I knew I had found a pretty cool place to work when one of the first projects I was handed after starting at LaunchDM was making revisions to the newly redesigned Pocono Raceway website. Since I grew up watching all kinds of racing on TV over the weekends, I knew I was going to fit in just fine working on the project. However, what I didn’t realize was just how deep my relational ties would be…
After telling my father about my new position and filling him in on what I was working on, he quickly took an interest to the project I was handed since he once worked so heavily with the Pocono Raceway team at his screen printing business, Unlimited Screen Printing. However, the full weight of how small my world was about to get didn’t sink in until I was going through a folder of files from Pocono Raceway.
As I was scrolling through their branding assets and files, I came across a folder labeled “Tricky Bio” and noticed part of the file had an animated illustration of a fox wearing a race suit. Thinking that the illustration looked familiar, I emailed my father the image and asked if he knew where it had originated. His response absolutely amazed me. He was the one that illustrated the animated fox named “Tricky” years ago!
After the shock of my world feeling about the size of a marble subsided, I quickly emailed the team at Launch and told them the story. We then contacted Pocono Raceway and told them about the connection. Turns out the very same representatives from Pocono Raceway that we were working with for the website redesign, were the same people that have been working with my father and his business for over 15 years! The odds of all this happening still to this day amazes me. It really is such a small world.
