Mobile Web Versioning
Fact: Over half of US mobile subscribers now own smartphones. Hint: They’re using them to visit websites. Truth: Most existing websites don’t look or function very well on a smartphone.
We can build a complete mobile replication of your main website OR we can scale down the page count and show only the information that would be useful to mobile users. No need to re-create, and maintain page content when we can simply tweak your design aesthetics and pull from the same database.
Example: Check out poconoraceway.com on your desktop computer, then check it out on an iPhone or Android phone. Both sites use the same database and each delivers an optimized user experience based on the device you’re using.
HTML5
HTML has been the main programming language used for building websites since 1990. For what it’s worth, HTMLstands for HyperText Markup Language. HTML5 is simply the latest standard for this web coding language. It became a buzzword in 2011, when Steve Jobs declared HTML5 the king of all languages and decided his (Apple’s) devices wouldn’t run Adobe Flash.
LaunchDM has been speaking the latest language since 2011. HTML5 gives us more flexibility in our designs and development and allows you to have a more powerful and efficient web tool that will work across devices and web browsers.
Mobile App Development
There are basically two types of mobile applications – native apps and web apps. Your choice on which to choose should be based on how you’re planning to use it.
A native application is one that you download from Apple’s App Store or the Android Market. They are designed and built specifically for each type of device. Native apps tie directly into the respective device’s hardware and software, which tends to make them more powerful, faster, and generally more refined.
Web apps are basically HTML5 websites that have been engineered with mobile devices in mind. The user interface, buttons, controls, layout, etc. have all been optimized for use on a smartphone or tablet.
