Ethosource, a pre-owned and refurbished office furniture company based out of Morgantown, Pa recently engaged with our design team to help give their logo a bit of a “refresh” in effort to better represent their services and values. In addition, they also wanted to provide somewhat of an icon that could stand on its own that their customers could easily recognize with or without their company name.

Since Ethosource is in the business of refurbishing office furniture, one of LaunchDM’s main goals was to somehow incorporate the “recycling” theme into the design of the new logo. As a result, we used the “e” from Ethosource and designed it in a way that we could add an arrow to the tail end of the “e” like that of the official recycling logo. To compliment the “e”, we used fresh, clean colors to go along with the recycling “green” theme of their business model.

Check out the new Ethosource logo below in a before and after shot, or view it live and in action on their website.

LaunchDM recently completed an exciting project to enhance the web presence of a start-up company based out of San Diego, Ca., called Katherine Cosmetics. Throughout the project, our team worked very closely with founder, Annie Finch-Carlson to design and program her an e-commerce website, as well as several other offline marketing materials including email template designs to help boost both brand awareness and sales.

As a former beauty executive, Annie founded Katherine Cosmetics with effortless, everyday beauty in mind. The brand brings women over 40 a go-to collection of 5 luxury travel-friendly products that make up the everyday collection; lip shimmers, glow sticks for cheeks, concealer, eyeliner and mascara… all inspired by the lives of 4 generations of Katherine’s.

We just completed one of our latest projects with Salesforce.com that involved the Developer Force team in creating and implementing a site for their Platform Mobile Services to showcase the variety of options for customers to build on mobile platforms. And since the site’s content is mobile-related, it only makes sense that the site renders well on mobile devices, right?

For those who are unfamiliar with the term “responsive design”, it can be easily described as a web design technique that is used in order to provide the best viewing experience possible with easy readability and navigation, and as little resizing and scrolling necessary across a variety of devices from desktop computers to mobile phones.

To get started, Salesforce.com’s design team provided LaunchDM with a design for standard desktop rendering which we then extrapolated as a design across a variety of devices and sizes. The optimizations made varied from little things like changing the spacing and font sizes to more complex items like rendering a horizontal set of buttons vertically on narrow screens. The result is a beautiful site where the same content (html) is used but the presentation (css) is different across different sized devices.

See for yourself by visiting events.developerforce.com/mobile… If you’re on a desktop browser, try resizing it and see how the page changes.

Q: Name any one product or gadget that you couldn’t possibly live without.
A: My phone. I feel lost when I don’t have it with me. I use it for so many different things in my life like keeping track of my schedule, emails, calls, taking photos and a little entertainment. My wife can’t stand it and is usually giving me the evil eye for being on my phone too much!

Q: If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
A: If I could choose a super power it would be to fly. I’ve always thought it would be cool to fly. I often find myself watching the birds behind my house and wish that I could soar around with them. Not only would it be great to get from place to place easily but it seems that it would be so peaceful and serene.

Q: Tell us 3 things we’d be surprised to know about you.
A: 1. I once had a 6 ft Iguana as a pet (my mother HATED it).
2. I used to be a huge Phish fan and would travel around with the band in the summer going to all kinds of shows. I went to tons of concerts when I was in my late teens/early twenties.
3. I really enjoy shooting pool. I’m not all that good but I like listening to music and passing the time shooting a few games.

Q: What do you look forward to most going home at the end of the day?
A: At the end of the day I really look forward to going home and talking with my wife and kids about our days and sitting down to a nice dinner. Some days can be pretty crazy with all of the extra curricular activities going on, but it’s still great to see them and have some family time.

Q: What do you like most about LaunchDM? Besides the team, of course.
A: I really like the work atmosphere at LaunchDM. The studio has a really cool style to it. We also have all kinds of different music playing all day… not your typical work environment! Everyone is great to work with too which makes it enjoyable.

As a trusted vendor since 2008, we have been very fortunate to have worked on a variety projects with the salesforce.com team and community all the way from San Francisco to Wyomissing. One of our more recent projects was to help service their community of AppExchange vendors in effort to redesign their existing tile graphics to fit within their newly adjusted design parameters and to reflect a more universal look.

For non-salesforce.com users, the “AppExchange” serves as an online marketplace for cloud computing applications that users can access, download and integrate within their instance of Salesforce CRM. Many apps are used as additional tools and services to extend their use of salesforce.com, from simple dashboards and reports and managing users to more sophisticated tools for specific needs like managing sales incentives and compensation and recruiting and on-boarding employees.

For most companies, their tile listing is one of the first impressions they have on salesforce.com users and potential customers that browse through the AppExchange. Without it, their listing is not highlighted and does not appear in the main results of popular search queries.

To view some of the tiles we helped to create and design, visit the salesforce.com AppExchange online or view a variety of samples below.

Q: Tell us 3 things we’d be surprised to know about you. Go!
1. I secretly want to be a farmer.
2. I performed Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 aka Ode to Joy in a choir at Carnegie Hall NYC.

Q: What do you look forward most coming into the studio everyday?
I love the LaunchDM team more than anything about coming to the studio; but the calm of my desk and getting things done is the next best thing.

We’d like to officially introduce one of our latest projects, the Mobile Sales Aid (or “MSA” if you share the same love for acronyms as we do).

The MSA was created and built with sales and marketing teams in mind who are in need of an easier, more efficient way to download and present their most recent materials and information in the office or on the go. The real beauty is not only having the ability to load, control and monitor an entire organization’s content all in one place but each MSA can be tailored with custom features like tracking geographic location and activity while out in the field. This particular feature makes communication and following up with clients and prospects instantaneous, allowing you to complete most of the leg work before even making it back to your desk.

Depending on your preference, the app can be built and run on the iOS or Android operating system and can also store and access all sorts of data from most CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software and data sharing systems.

No Internet connection? No problem. As long as the device is regularly synced when you do have access to the Internet, the app can run completely offline and still access all of the same information throughout the day.

Check out some of the MSA projects we’ve worked on to date with clients C.H. Briggs, Sonoma Partners, Molson Coors and our very own, LaunchDM. Let us know what you think!

Q: Name any one product or gadget that you couldn’t possibly live without.
A: My iPhone. I want to be connected at all times and it’s great to always have a camera and wikipedia in my pocket.

Q: How many cups of coffee would you say you drink per day? Don’t worry, we’re not judging here.
A: I would estimate 3-4 cups per day. It seems like a lot more but I mainly just sip throughout the day. And, of course, I like to have a cup of coffee before bed.

Q: What are the top 3 places on your bucket list?
A: Hawaii, Vegas, Key West

Q: Tell us some of your go-to creative outlets for inspiration.
A: My inspiration comes from a lot of different places including other websites, Communication Arts, and Jessica Hische because jessicahische.is/awesome. I also get inspired by everyday objects, how they are designed, the textures and patterns around me, etc. I regularly use the camera on my phone to take pictures of things that inspire me.

Q: What do you look forward to most going home at the end of the day?
A: Hanging out with my family and hearing about the crazy ideas my daughters have thought up throughout the day. They are currently building a playground for their stuffed animals out of cardboard, string and duct tape.

Q: What do you like most about LaunchDM’s studio? Besides the team, of course.
A: The music selection. You never know what you’ll hear in the studio. Oh, and Sal’s stories. You never know what you’ll hear in the Studio.
